New
York-based actress/writer/comedian, Jennifer Ostrega is a graduate
of the acting school at Rutgers University. She trained in improvisational
comedy under the direction of Del Close at Improv Olympic and
the Piven Theatre in Chicago. After making her solo debut at Chicago's
Live Bait Theatre in 1999, she moved to NYC where she took her
solo creation known as Permalance (corporate speak for "permanent-freelance"
job) and presented a workshop of the show at ManhattanTheatreSource
in NYC.
The
show ran at Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre, Improv Olympic West
in Los Angeles, and was selected by NBC for a production of TOWER
OF BABBLE at NBC's artist/comedy development program PSNBC at
HERE Arts Center. Jennifer Ostrega was a featured performer in
the comedy duo category at the 2003 Annual Chicago Improv Festival.
Tower of Babble debuted at the New York Fringe Festival directed
by Michael Schiralli and extended its run at The Peoples Improv
Theater in Chelsea. The show remained Timeout NY's Comedy Pick
of the Week as voted by critic, Joe Grossman.
In
film, she has appeared in comedy shorts of Daily Show Writer/Director
Eric Drysdale and Writer/Director, Paul Sullivan of Boy in the
Drain Productions, (First Time Caller).
Jennifer
has appeared off-Broadway with the 52nd Street Project and the
24 Hour Plays. Currently, she is developing her latest show, VERY
MIDDLE CLASS.
